Dining tabletop refinish

I bought this table four years ago intending to refinish the top and I have finally finished it.
The top was far more damaged than I originally thought, I believe it had water damage past the surface of the wood so the new stain did not take evenly, however, the surface is smooth and shiny so we are going to say it is Shabby Chic! Didn't I do that on purpose?? LOL

AFTER sanding
One coat of stain (see how it didn't take in some areas?)

So even tho the project didn't pan out exactly the way I wanted, I'm still satisfied that it looks 100% better and now I have a perfectly smooth tabletop. The centerpiece, etc should hide the uneven color, however, I think I'm used to it now.
Go out there and get some used furniture and JUST DO IT!
